However, conducting research is only the first step in the process of bringing new ideas and inventions to life. The next step is equally important, which involves taking research from the laboratory to the industry or market. This process can be daunting and complex, and many researchers struggle to navigate it successfully. To address this challenge, the webinar "How to Take Your Research to the Next Step" was held on Thursday, 16th Feb 2023, as part of the Innovdrop 2.0 program. The webinar aimed to provide participants with valuable insights on how to commercialize research and obtain patents. Innovdrop 2.0 was held this year as an extension of the previous year's program Innovdrop 1.0. The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Heminda Jayaweera, a Serial Innovation and Entrepreneur and Eisenhower Fellow 2021. With his vast experience in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, Mr. Jayaweera shared his personal insights and experience on the process of taking research to the next level. The webinar was designed to benefit a diverse audience, including undergraduates, graduates, and innovative individuals, who are looking to bring their research to the industry or market. The event provided a valuable opportunity for participants to learn from the expert speaker, interact with like-minded individuals, and gain practical knowledge on the process of commercializing research.
