December 17, 2022 · 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM @ Online event

Description

“ TechnoMind ” is a project organized by the IEEE Industry Applications Society of SLTC Research University in collaboration with the Robotic and Rover Division of the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space Chapter of SLTC, to encourage the next generation of engineers and inventors. The whole event was categorized into three main events. University Workshop Series Competition Exhibition The TechnoMind University Workshop Series was organized to educate undergraduates, starting from the fundamentals of robotics to much more advanced topics. The second workshop was held on the 17th of December 2022 at 6:00 PM (GMT +05.30) on Zoom Video Conferencing Platform, covering the topic "Product Designing". The aim of the second workshop was to provide the participants with detailed knowledge on “Product Designing” which is an important aspect in robotics. To successfully provide knowledge on this matter, Mr. Warnaka Gunawardena, the Director of Engineering Services at Watkins Wellness, was invited as the Guest Speaker for the event. The invitation was graciously accepted. The registration form circulated across various social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, alongside promotional materials for TechnoMind. A registration count of over 300 was obtained. A Google Invite, including the meeting details, Zoom Online Video Conferencing meeting link was sent to all participants. The organizing committee logged on to the meeting at 6:00 PM and was joined by the guest speaker afterwards to ensure the technical aspects of the meeting were in check. All participants joining the Zoom meeting were limited to the Zoom waiting room until the event was underway. At 07:00 PM, the participants were accepted into the Zoom meeting by the Co-Hosts. The event started off by showcasing all promotional videos pertaining to TechnoMind. Afterwards, the moderators, Ms. Sabrina Samath and Mr. Dasun Pramodya, welcomed the participants, provided a brief introduction, and explained the functionality of the workshop. The session was handed over to the guest speaker Mr. Warnaka Gunawardena. Mr. Gunawardena provided a well-detailed explanation of Product Designing in robotics. The Guest Speaker delivered a successful session as he spoke not only on the Product Designing but also on the issues faced and mistakes made by beginners in projects. Through his articulate and comprehensive explanation, the participants were effectively conveyed a thorough comprehension of the subject matter. Following the Guest Speaker’s session, a Q&A session took place in which a few questions brought forward by the participants via the Pigeonhole platform were answered. The Pigeonhole platform was chosen because questions which were of higher demand could be voted by the participants and brought upwards so that higher priority could be given to them. The questions which could not be attended to were provided answers via the Pigeonhole platform afterwards. The session drew over 200 participants, indicating a high level of interest in the topic. A specially designed plaque was provided to the Guest Speaker Mr. Warnaka Gunawardena as a Virtual Token of Appreciation. The session was concluded at 08.30pm. The session recorded over 100 participants across all platforms and obtained feedback from most of them. The webinar had a high rating by majority of the participants. The session was an immense success and concluded inviting all participants to the final webinar of the TechnoMind University Workshop Series.
