“ TechnoMind ” is a project organized by the IEEE Industry Applications Society of SLTC Research University in collaboration with the Robotic and Rover Division of the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space Chapter of SLTC, to encourage the next generation of engineers and inventors. The whole event was categorized into three main events. University Workshop Series Competition Exhibition The third day of the workshop series was held on the 8 th of December 2022 at 08.00 PM via the Zoom Online Video Conferencing on the topic “Biomedical Engineering”. The main aim of this workshop was to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques involved in the field of biomedical engineering. To provide an understanding on this focus, Prof. Ruwan Gopura, Head, Department of Medical Technology, University of Moratuwa, was invited to be the guest speaker. The invite was graciously accepted. The registration process for the workshop series began on 04 th of December 2022 and the registration form was circulated via popular social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn alongside promotional materials. The online registration form received over 300 registrations. The organizing committee logged on to the meeting at 07:30 PM and was joined by the guest speaker afterwards to ensure the technical aspects of the meeting were in check. All participants joining the Zoom meeting were limited to the Zoom waiting room until the event was underway. The participants were welcomed by the moderators Mr. Kavindu Dedunupitiya and Ms. Nethulya Sooriyarachchi. The session was then handed over to the Guest Speaker of the session Prof. Ruwan Gopura. Prof. Ruwan Gopura shared a vast knowledge about the field of Biomedical Engineering, including medical device design, biomaterials, and medical imaging, among others. Following Prof. Ruwan Gopura’s session, a Q&A session took place in which a few questions brought forward by the participants via the Pigeonhole platform were answered. The Pigeonhole platform was chosen because questions which were of higher demand could be voted by the participants and brought upwards so that higher priority could be given to them. The questions which could not be attended to were provided answers via the Pigeonhole platform afterwards. The Guest Speaker, Prof. Ruwan Gopura was given a specially crafted plaque as a virtual Token of Appreciation. Information regarding the exhibition and the competition were announced, successfully ending the workshop at 09.30 PM. The participant count was over 150 for this session and there was good feedback from them, mentioning how this workshop helped them. The TechnoMind Workshop Series provided a great opportunity for all those interested to acquire knowledge, interact with industry leaders, and have their queries answered. The session was highly successful and concluded the TechnoMind university workshop series.
