IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members are advised and proctored by an IEEE member, and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch. Teams compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. Among 676 student branches around the world, the competition started at 5.30 AM (GMT 00:00) on 22nd of October 2022 and ended at 5.30 AM (GMT 00:00) on 23rd of October 2022. Our student branch conducted this event virtually. All together 16 teams were registered to compete in this competition under the IEEE Student Branch of University of Vavuniya. During the 24 hours all the teams did their collaboration with their teammates with the help of the virtual meeting platforms like zoom. IEEE Student Branch University of Vavuniya performed well and took the 63rd (Unplugged), 99th (CodeQueens) ranks on island ranking. This was the highest performance from the IEEE Student Branch of University of Vavuniya for the IEEEXtreme 16.0. Our student branch also engaged them by releasing posters with team leads and team members, and we received continuous updates from them. As a result of Team Leaders motivating all members to approach challenges strategically, IEEE Extreme 16.0 was a valuable learning opportunity for everyone involved.
