" Get Git - GitHub Workshop ," hosted by the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University , is a comprehensive initiative aimed at equipping undergraduate students from KDU and other universities with in-depth knowledge of GitHub. This engaging session took place on 30th January 2023 , at the KDU University Premises, offering an in-person experience for first, second, and third-year undergraduate students of KDU. Additionally, a live virtual session was conducted, extending the learning opportunity to undergraduate students from other universities. The workshop primarily focused on GitHub, a robust platform that enables collaborative software development and version control. The session aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills related to this widely used tool. With the physical session held at the KDU university premises, students from the first, second, and third-year cohorts could interact directly with the speakers and delve deeper into GitHub's functionalities. The lively discussions and hands-on exercises fostered an immersive learning environment, allowing participants to gain practical experience in utilizing GitHub for collaborative projects and code management . Simultaneously, the virtual session provided an inclusive learning environment for undergraduate students from other universities, who could join the workshop remotely. Through the virtual platform, participants had the chance to engage with the speakers, ask questions, and actively participate in the learning activities.
