Description
IEEE අඬහැරය is an awareness program organized by the Member Activities Sub-committee of the Sri Lanka Student Activities Committee (SLSAC), intended to instill an interest in IEEE among undergraduates of Sri Lanka while retaining existing volunteers of the section. IEEE අඬහැරය encourages IEEE Student Branches to organize events in collaboration with the SLSAC. Therefore, IEEE අඬහැරය 2023 has been organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Vavuniya on 11th April 2023 from 7.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. via Zoom. The event started at 7.05 p.m with the welcome speech delivered by the student branch chair. Then lightning the oil lamp by the guest speakers. Our esteemed guest speaker Mr. Dilendra Thennakoon, The vice-chair of the collaborative activities sub-committee of the IEEE Sri Lanka Student Activities Committee, shared insightful thoughts through his IEEE experiences with us. Next, the industrial keynote session was done by Mr. Sakila Jayasooriya, Software Engineer, Cambio Software Engineering about “Industrial Experiences in Java and Related Technologies.” It was an engaging, insightful, and informative session for all the participants. After the session token of appreciation was given to the guest speaker. The Student Branch Session with Chapter Awareness session was done by Miss. Hiruni Jeyasinghe, Event Coordinator, IEEE Student Branch of the University of Vavuniya. She explained the past events, projects, and achievements gained by IEEE Student Branch. After that Miss. Himathiri Premakumar, Former Secretary, IEEE Student Branch of the University of Vavuniya did the session on the IEEE Computer Society. After the session, Kahoot game competition boosted the participants which selected the best 3 participants with their responses to the questions that were raised by her. Next, the executive committee of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Vavuniya engaged with the audience and clear their doubts about the IEEE related questions very interactively. Then, the recap video of 2022 was shown to the participants. The event winded up with a vote of thanks from the student branch secretary.
