The Communications Society of the University of Peradeniya held its Annual General Meeting on the 20th of April, 2023. The meeting was held in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering seminar room. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the society's activities during the past year and to plan for the upcoming year. The advisor of the society Dr. Himal Suraweera, members of the society and invited guests participated in the meeting. The meeting started with the President's welcome address, where he thanked the members and guests for attending the meeting. The minutes of the previous AGM were presented by the Secretary and were approved by the members. The Secretary then presented the annual report, highlighting the society's activities during the past year. The report included details of the events and programs conducted by the society, including guest lectures, workshops, and competitions. The report also highlighted the society's achievements and challenges during the year. The Treasurer presented the audited financial report, which showed a healthy financial position for the society. The members discussed the report and were satisfied with the financial management of the society. The election of office bearers for the upcoming year was conducted. A committee with 18 members was appointed with Mr. Shanon Gunawardana as the Chairperson and Ms. Uthpala Ratnayake as the Secretary. The newly appointed junior treasurer was Mr. Nimesh Senanayake. After the election of office bearers, the newly appointed Chair addressed the members and thanked them for their trust and confidence in him. He expressed his commitment to working with the committee and members to further the society's goals and objectives. He also discussed the future plans for the society, which included organizing more events, increasing membership, and strengthening partnerships with other organizations. The Chair expressed his gratitude to the committee for appointing him and looked forward to working with everyone in the upcoming year. The members gave a round of applause and congratulated the newly elected office bearers and Chair. Then the advisor of the IEEE Communication Society Student Branch Chapter of University of Peradeniya, Dr. Himal Suraweera, addressed the meeting and shared his past experience with the past committee of members of the society and appreciated their successful events in the previous year. And also encouraged the newly appointed committee of members to continue the work done by the past committee. After the Annual General Meeting concluded, the newly elected committee members gathered to introduce themselves to each other. This was a valuable opportunity for the new committee members to get to know each other and establish a working relationship. In conclusion, the IEEE Communication Society Student Branch Chapter of University of Peradeniya had a successful year, with several events and activities that have benefited its members. The election of new executive members brings renewed energy and ideas to the society, and looking forward to another productive year ahead.
