"Octwave" was an exciting online event organised by the University of Moratuwa IEEE IAS Student Branch in collaboration with IXD Labs, a prominent organisation specialising in machine learning and data science. This event aimed to provide valuable insights into the world of artificial intelligence and machine learning through a series of informative sessions conducted by the experts at IXD Labs. The event was held virtually over the course of three days, with each day featuring a different topic related to AI and machine learning. Participants who attended all three days of the event were eligible to receive a participation e-certificate. Session Highlights: ● The event commenced with moderators from the University of Moratuwa IEEE IAS Student Branch successfully introducing and starting each session. ● The sessions were then handed over to guest speakers from IXD Labs, who conducted the lessons with expertise and enthusiasm. ● Nearly 200 students actively engaged in all three days of the event, which is a significant achievement for an online event. ● Throughout the sessions, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify doubts, fostering interactive and insightful discussions. ● Each session covered a range of interesting and important topics within the field of AI and machine learning. The event featured esteemed guest speakers from IXD Labs, whose expertise and knowledge greatly enriched the sessions. Lisara Gunaweera ( Trainee - ML Engineer IXD Labs ) The event was accessible to a wide audience of enthusiastic learners. It was recorded and streamed through the official Facebook page of the IEEE IAS Student Branch, ensuring that the knowledge and insights shared during the sessions reached a broad and diverse audience. The Octwave event concluded on a highly successful note, with a participation count of over 200 young enthusiasts. The active engagement, positive feedback, and meaningful discussions throughout the event underscored its value as an educational initiative in the field of AI and machine learning. The University of Moratuwa IEEE IAS Student Branch would like to extend their appreciation to IXD Labs, the guest speakers, moderators, and all the participants who made this event a resounding success. Promotions The promotions were primarily done through a series of flyers shared in social media (Facebook and WhatsApp). Registrations were called through a Google form, and invitations were sent to interested parties through WhatsApp groups and a Facebook event.
