The Annual General Meeting of the IEEE Women In Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group of University of Peradeniya convened on January 17, 2023, in the Seminar Room of the Department of Electrical and Electronics. This pivotal event marked the inauguration of the 2023/24 term and the induction of a fresh committee. Commencing the proceedings, Prof. Maheshi Dissanayake, senior advisor of IEEE WIE AG at UoP, shed light on the society's mission and provided insights into its improvement. Her vision for empowering women in engineering and her expectations from the newly appointed committee set the tone for the term, emphasizing growth and progress. Miss Sachini Senevirathne, the outgoing chair, then presented a retrospective on the accomplishments of her term. This retrospective illuminated the committee's dedication and achievements, showcasing their contributions to the society's advancement. Transitioning to the future, Miss Bhashini Jayathunga, the newly appointed chair, unveiled upcoming projects and plans. Her enthusiastic presentation ignited a sense of anticipation among attendees, revealing the committee's commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and growth.The event concluded with a shared determination to elevate the IEEE WIE AG of UoP to new horizons in the approaching term.
