The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter and IEEE ComSoc Student Branch Chapter and the Inauguration ceremony of IEEE EMBS Student Branch Chapter of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, took on a new dimension of unity and diversity this year by bringing together a multitude of student societies under one roof. This groundbreaking event showcased the collective spirit of our university's vibrant community and highlighted the impact of collaboration across various disciplines. The keynote speaker for the AGM of the IEEE PES student branch chapter of General Sir John Kotelewala Defence University was Ms. Charithri Yapa, a dedicated lecturer at the University of Sri Jayawardenapura who obtained her B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Moratuwa. Ms. Yapa’s presentation was nothing short of extraordinary, and with each thought-provoking idea she shared, the audience was not only motivated to implement positive innovations but also enlightened about how the IEEE works. This event was very successful further with the participation of Dr. Rukshani Liyanaarachchi, Vice Chair of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Sri Lanka Chapter, a visionary who exemplifies the intersection of engineering and medical advancements. Further event was successful with the partcipation of Mr. Kulunu Weerasoory, the Section Student Representative IEEE Sri Lankan section and IEEE Student Branch Advisors of KDU, Mrs. Kalani Ilmini and Ms. Isuri Uwanthika. From the university, the chief guests were Major General Milinda Peiris, RWP RSP USP VSV LOM ndc psc, Past Vice Chancellor and Present Vice Chancellor Rear Admiral HGUD Kumara VSV, USP, PSC of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence and University. Further, Brigadier DCA Wickramasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Defense, Prof. TL Weerawardane, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, IEEE Student Branch Counsellor of KDU and the Dean of Faculty of Computing, Dr. ADAI Gunasekara were invited. Akso, Captain (L) WPC Weerawardana USP, Head of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering and other academic and non-academic staff of the department were invited for this occassion.
