The Student Branch, in collaboration with its chapter, the Computer Society and the WIE affinity group, hosted CodeSprint 7.0 from January until June 2023. CodeSprint 7.0 was an event that has solidified itself as the biggest and most influential idea incubator in Sri Lanka’s university scene in 2023. With over 1500 enthusiastic participants from 18 universities across the island, CodesPrint 7.0 exceeded all expectations, setting new standards and drawing more than 300 innovative software ideas. Moreover, the Student Branch collaborated with over 20 company partners and 70 industry experts in judging, evaluation, and mentoring to ensure the success of the event. The initial phase of the event was IdeaSprint, where participants unleashed their imaginations and developed innovative software ideas in a highly creative atmosphere. The participants then took part in the DesignSprint phase, where they turned concepts into plans for unique software designs. Following that was BuildSprint, where ideas were transformed into reality through coding. Lastly, SprintPitch showcased participants’ solutions, demonstrating their dedication and innovative capabilities. The logistics co-chairperson, Tharana Wanigaratne described this multifaceted event as a seamless fusion of four distinctive phases, each with its own unique essence and purpose. In the exciting conclusion of CodeSprint 7.0, the top five finalists presented their creatives to a panel of judges. A seven-person executive judge panel comprised of CEOs, CTOs, and vice presidents from top tech companies was formed for the first time as part of the extraordinary finale, making history. The event concluded by presenting cash prizes to the winners.
