The AGM was called to order by the moderators, Ms. Hansika Duviduni and Ms. Kavisha Dissanayake, at 10:06 AM. Welcome and introduction speech by Vice Chairperson – Ms. Mithara Induwara Ms. Mithara Induwara provided an introductory overview of IEEE and what they had achieved during their term. Speech by Student Activities Chair at IEEE Sri Lanka Section - Mr. Dhammika Marasinghe: Mr. Dhammika Marasinghe discussed the responsibilities and opportunities available to the student branch. He also mentioned that as IEEE is a professional organization, members should try to make most of it by requesting for assistance instead of expecting them to provide everything. He also mentioned how the IEEE helps in providing funds for ongoing projects. With that he ended his speech by thanking last year’s board and wishing the next board success. A token of appreciation was presented to him by the newly appointed board. Minutes of last year’s AGM by the past secretary - Janani for the board 21/22 This was seconded by the past Assistant Secretary, Bihari Welikala. Evaluation of the Budget of IEEE USJ SB by Treasurer – Mr. Ravinath Wanni Arachchi This was seconded by the past Vice Chairperson, Ms. Mithara Induwara. Then, the year plan for the new year was presented. The year plan consisted of various events, such as webinar series, training programs, tech talks and other interesting programs scheduled to take plan from the month of October 2023 to September 2024. Apart from the main events, she also mentioned that monthly gatherings will be held within the year. Speech by the Branch Counselor - Dr. Lasith Gunawardena Dr. Lasith Gunawardena welcomed both the previous and current board. He asked to improve the board and increase the number of members in the society. Also, he noted that this would help grow and improve the existing projects and help start new ones too. He also mentioned how being in the board provides members more opportunities like meeting new people, which would definitely help undergraduates in the long run. He concluded by wishing the new committee for the upcoming year ahead. A token of appreciation was presented to him by the newly appointed board. Vote of Thanks by the newly appointed Secretary – Ms. Khadeeja Thahir The AGM concluded with a vote of thanks to the advisory board, guest speaker, and all attendees.
