Thrive for Green

April 1, 2022 at 4:30 AM - July 1, 2023 at 12:30 PM @ Vavuniya

Description

Thrive for Green project was organized by the student branch of the University of Vavuniya between April 2022 and July 2023. The goal of the project was to plant a number of trees in many locations all over Sri Lanka to lessen the carbon footprint in the environment and the quality of life for the community. Several trees were planted during the project. The trees were planted in a variety of locations, including parks, schools, and neighborhoods. The trees planted were a mix of native and non-native species, selected for their suitability to the local climate and conditions. In addition to planting trees, the student branch of the University of Vavuniya also gave valuable gifts to the winners of the tree planting competition. These gifts were given as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the project. Project impact The tree planting project is expected to have a number of positive environmental and social impacts, including reducing the carbon footprint of the community. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in their wood and leaves. This process is called carbon sequestration. As the trees grow, they will absorb more and more carbon dioxide, helping to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. In addition to reducing the carbon footprint, the trees will also help to improve air and water quality, reduce soil erosion, and provide habitat for wildlife. The trees will also make the community more aesthetically pleasing and provide a place for residents to relax and enjoy nature. The project is a great example of how we can work together to reduce our impact on the environment and create a more sustainable future. Theme: Say no to carbon The tree planting project is a great way to "say no to carbon" and promote April Cool. The tree planting project was a success. A number of trees were planted, which will have a number of positive environmental and social impacts. The project team learned a few valuable lessons, including the importance of community involvement.
