Description
Design Thinking involves problem-solving by gaining insights into people's needs, devising imaginative solutions, and refining them through testing and enhancement. Innovations encompass inventive concepts or enhancements that enhance various aspects of life, such as developing new products or enhancing existing ones, ultimately simplifying or making life more engaging. As undergraduate students, we engage in both research and numerous projects, making the adoption of design thinking a crucial skill. Understanding this necessity, IEEE IAS SBC of the University of Moratuwa arrange a session on innovations and design thinking to impart knowledge to undergraduates in any university. The resources person was Mr. Ushan Chaminda, Final year Undergraduate in the faculty of Information and technology at the University of Moratuwa. The webinar was open to all the undergraduates at the University of Moratuwa as well as other universities. There were more than 40 participants who had registered for the session and saw the participation about 30 through the zoom platform. During the session on design thinking and innovations, we initially introduced participants to the concept of creative problem-solving. Next, we delved into techniques for generating innovative ideas and explored methods to foster a culture of innovation within teams. We also discussed the importance of empathy in understanding user needs and how to prototype and test innovative solutions. By the end of the session, participants gained a deeper understanding of the design thinking process and its potential for fostering innovative approaches to problem-solving. In the end, there was a Q&A session in which the participants were allowed to solve their doubts and questions. In here, participants were able to sort out all their obscure facts applicable to the software.
