On October 7, 2023, IEEE members of University of Vavuniya and enthusiasts came together to celebrate IEEE Day at our venue. IEEE Day is an annual event that commemorates the first time in history when engineers worldwide and IEEE members gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884. This year's event was especially momentous as it featured Randul Malinhara, a remarkable software engineer undergraduate from IIT, as our keynote speaker.
Agenda
Registration and Arrival Delegates: The presence of all the participants were recorded during the entrance Opening Ceremony: The event commenced with an energetic and motivating opening ceremony with a welcome speech by the Student Branch of UOV Chair Person MR. Kavishan. He provided an overview of IEEE's mission, its significance in the world of technology, and the importance of celebrating IEEE Day. Git hub and Linked-in session: Participants learned about the importance, uses and how to handle linked in and git hub accounts from our SB web Master Mr. Harish. Interactive session: A word/phrase guessing game was conducted by Ms. Dinusha Hansani which boosted up the participants and kept them more interactice. Keynote Address by Mr. Randul Malinhara: The main attraction of the day was Randul Malinhara's keynote address. Randul, a software engineer undergraduate at IIT, enthralled the audience with his insights on the role of young engineers in shaping the future of technology. He shared his journey, experiences, and vision for the future, inspiring all attendees to think beyond boundaries and aim for innovation. He briefed several aspects of IEEE and Computer society and also the benefits of volunteering. Ambassador session: Mr.Riyazath who was The Ambassador of IEEE Day 2023 talked about his achievements and thanked everyone who was behind his success. He also explained what made him bring to this extend. Outdoor activities: Several outdoor games and group activities were conducted under the control of Organizing Committee members which made the participants engaged and energetic. Vote of thanks: The session was ended successfully with the vote of thanks by Ms. Ilma Jiyadh.
