WIE professional activities technical talk hands on session for the year 2023 "How to Build a P2P Energy Trading Platform in Polygon" workshop, hosted on 10th May 2023 via Zoom, organized by the IEEE WIE Sri Lanka section with the collaboration of IEEE Computer Society Sri Lanka Chapter and IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Sri Lanka Chapter was an enriching and informative event designed to empower participants with practical professional and technical skills in blockchain technology, specifically focusing on building a peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading platform using Polygon. The workshop aimed to achieve the following objectives: Upgrade professional skills and knowledge: Equip participants with hands-on experience in blockchain development, smart contracts, and decentralized application (DApp) creation. Blockchain in Energy sector: Explore the potential of blockchain technology in transforming the energy sector, emphasizing the benefits of P2P energy trading for a more sustainable future. Polygon Expertise: Provide insights into the capabilities and advantages of Polygon as a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. Enhance networking among members: Promote networking among members through discussions and Q&A sessions.

Session 1: Introduction to Blockchain and Energy Trading (4:05 PM - 4:45 PM IST) Mr. Anjana Jayaweera provided an overview of blockchain technology, its applications in energy trading, and the significance of Polygon covering the following topics, Introduction to Blockchain. Solidity and its role in smart contract development. Use cases for Blockchain in Energy industry. P2P energy trading platforms. Session 2: Hands-On Development (4:50 PM - 6:30 PM IST) Participants received practical training in smart contract development, creating a user-friendly interface, and setting up a P2P energy trading platform on Polygon covering the following topics., Crash course on Solidity. Building a P2P energy trading platform. Session 4: Project Showcases and Q&A (6:30 PM - 7:00 PM IST) Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in collaborative discussions.
