IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter of the University of Jaffna organized a webinar on "Smart Grid and Renewable Integration", conducted by Prof. Janaka Bndara Ekanayake, Chair Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Peradeniya. The main objective of this session was to comprehensively capture the insights and discussions, shedding light on the multifaceted challenges and opportunities in the integration of renewable energy into smart grids. During this event, he discussed about various dimensions, exploring topics such as barriers and solutions for renewable energy targets, technical challenges like frequency regulation and voltage rise, non-technical barriers, system-level solutions, and essential considerations for renewable energy integration. The targeted audience of this event was undergraduates who have an interest in renewable energy. Other than that, the session was open to anyone interested in joining the session. The event was successfully completed with 145+ participants.
