"UNITING MINDS FOR AN IMPACTFUL CHANGE," commencing on November 25th onwards at the Mini Auditorium, Wayamba University, is poised to be a pivotal event in fostering humanitarian project design and execution. Organized by IEEE Sri Lanka Section SIGHT, this workshop series aims to empower individuals to convert ideas into actionable plans, focusing on sustainable impact in humanitarian and sustainability efforts. The series is designed as a collaborative effort, providing a platform for learning, networking, and direct contributions to meaningful causes. Keynote Overview by Deep TEC Engineering: As our distinguished keynote speaker, Mr. Hasitha Jayasingha, a Project Engineer at Deep Tec Engineering (PVT) Ltd., will share his expertise in critical areas: Water Supply Projects: Mr. Jayasingha will draw from his experience in designing, installing, and maintaining water pumping systems. His insights will focus on the challenges and innovations within the realm of domestic, industrial, and rural water supply projects. Pumps and Pressure Systems: Recognized as exclusive distributors of European brands, Mr. Jayasingha will shed light on the varied applications of pumps and pressure systems. He will discuss their role in residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and firefighting contexts. Solar Energy Solutions: Delving into the field of solar energy, Mr. Jayasingha will share his expertise in providing and installing photovoltaic solar systems. His insights will cover on-grid rooftop systems for homes and businesses, handheld devices. Key Activities: Empowering participants to bridge the gap between ideation and tangible impact, this workshop series unfolds through a dynamic blend of interactive activities and collaborative problem-solving. Divide teams: Comprised of individuals with unique perspectives and skillsets, teams tackle real-world challenges in the humanitarian and sustainability fields. Be it combating climate change or empowering refugees, each project focuses on a specific topic, with two teams delving into each area for a comprehensive exploration. They delve into the complexities of their assigned topic, identifying critical problems faced by underserved communities. Collaborative exchange fosters a deeper understanding of these challenges as diverse viewpoints are shared and refined. Cross-pollination of ideas: Breaking down silos, teams engage in cross-topic dialogues. This exchange exposes them to a wider range of problems and solutions, sparking innovative thinking and fostering a holistic approach to tackling complex issues.
