This application, endorsed by counselors of the IEEE Student Branch deeply invested in fostering academic growth, bore the weight of six impassioned IEEE Computer Society members' signatures. Upon receiving the official approval from the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) for the submitted petition, arrangements swiftly unfolded for the inauguration ceremony of the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. With great enthusiasm and a shared commitment to advancing the frontiers of computing, the university proudly unveils its IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter at the inauguration ceremony appointing the Founding Executive Committee. The event commenced with the arrival of esteemed guests Dr. Lochandaka Ranathunga, Chairperson of IEEE Computer Society Chapter Sri Lanka, and Mr. Lakshan Madushanka, Student Activities Chair of IEEE Sri Lanka Section. The Inauguration Ceremony started with a welcome address by the outgoing Chair of the Student Branch Chairman, Mr. Supun Hansika, introducing the newly established IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter. The Advisor of the Computer Society, Dr. Pradeep Kalansooriya, announced the nominations of the Founding Executive Committee. The Founding Computer Society Chapter Chairman, Mr. Mihin Kariyawasam, delivered an inspiring speech, igniting enthusiasm among the audience. With a focus on fostering collaboration, providing educational resources, and facilitating industry connections, the chapter strives to empower students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to excel in the dynamic field of computer science.
