InspiHER{MAT101} continued its journey with the third session, “Introduction to Simulink,” held on 19th December 2023 from 07:00 pm to 09:00 pm via Zoom . This session was conducted by Dr. Vishaka Basnayake . The session was divided into four main parts: Control Flow (if statements, loops) : Participants implemented control flow to identify specific temperature trends (e.g., days with a significant temperature increase). Functions and Scripts : Participants created functions to perform specific analyses, such as identifying temperature anomalies. Plotting in MATLAB : Participants generated time-series plots to visualize the temperature trends over the given period. Introduction to Simulink : While Simulink might not be directly used, participants were encouraged to simulate hypothetical scenarios (e.g., what-if analysis for future temperatures) using MATLAB. The session was interactive and engaging, with Dr. Basnayake providing clear explanations and demonstrations. Participants actively engaged in the session, gaining a solid understanding of control flow, functions and scripts, plotting in MATLAB, and an introduction to Simulink. This session laid the groundwork for the participants to explore more complex topics in MATLAB and Simulink. The participants are now better equipped to tackle the challenges of the competition, and we look forward to seeing their progress in the upcoming sessions.
