Bittopia: IEEEXtreme Host Program at University of Peradeniya

Bittopia is the coding arcade for IEEEXtreme 17.0 for University of Peradeniya where teams who are competing are invited to get together and participate in person. This is the first time in years that IEEEXtreme is happening physically at University of Peradeniya. A program titled Xtreme.Pera-23 which included awareness sessions, social media campaigns, practice and training programs that was in action since august had led the way to bittopia through 3 main phases as awareness, training/practice and facilitation/encouragement. It consisted of a mini programming challenge series each weekend to prepare the stage for Bittopia encouraging more participants to take part in IEEEXtreme 17.0. Bittopia supported about 10 teams participating in the competition in both in-person and remotely. The proctors were present and Dr. Ruwan Ranaweera explained the rules and instructions wishing the contestants all the best as well. The event spanned for the whole 24 hours duration physically where the competitors were provided with all the facilities required such as power, connectivity, refreshments and meals for the time duration. Also there were certain quick activities arranged for the teams to enagage in when needed to take a break or a quick change of attention. The end of Bittopia was composed with an award presentation where the best performing teams were awarded with appreciational cash prizes and valuable certificates. Eng. Ranjan Kulathunga frim Zone24x7 (Pvt) Ltd. who is the bronze sponsor for the program graced the occation with his presence. Specially the team Insomniacs who won the national championship was awarded during the ceremony. All the proceedings of the event ended by concluding the award ceremony at about 8:30 AM in SL time (UTC+5:30 hours)
