The first ever field visit organised by the IEEE Power and Energy Society Student Branch Chapter of KDU happened on the 28th of January, 2023 to the Samanalawewa Power station. The attendees were all the Electrical and Electronic Engineering undergraduates of Intake 37, 38 and 39. We got up close with how the plant generates hydroelectric power, learning about turbines, water management, and electricity systems. The best part? We chatted with experts, understanding the challenges and cool innovations in power generation. The whole day was a mix of learning and awe – a perfect blend of tech and nature. Plus, we made new connections, creating a network of folks keen on making our energy future greener.
