GISLA 2024 - Webinar 1: Generative AI Webinar 1 of GISLA 2024, the Global AI Art Competition, unfolded with a vibrant atmosphere centered around the theme of Generative AI. Dhananjaya Yatigammana, the Co-Chair of GISLA 2024, set the tone by extending a warm welcome to both the esteemed guest, Prof. Roshan Ragel, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, and the enthusiastic attendees. Following the welcome, Mr. Shakil Arifeen, Chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, took the stage to provide a historical perspective on GISLA, reflecting on the achievements of GISLA 2021. He delved into the essence of GISLA 2024, emphasizing the importance of its theme, "A Global Call for Climate Action." The event continued with an introduction video for GISLA 2024, capturing the spirit of the competition. Maleesha Dinujaya, Co-Chair of GISLA 2024, then provided a comprehensive overview of the global AI art competition, offering valuable insights into the competition's details and directing participants to the official website. A pivotal moment of the webinar was the guest session led by Prof. Roshan Ragel, who shared his expertise on "Generative AI." The session proved to be both interesting and well-explained, offering attendees a deep dive into the fascinating world of generative AI. Concluding the event, Nipuni Herath, Secretary of GISLA 2024, delivered a heartfelt thank-you speech expressing gratitude to all involved. The culmination featured a memorable group photo, immortalizing the moment with Prof. Roshan Ragel, the organizing committee, and the engaged attendees. Webinar 1 successfully inaugurated GISLA 2024, offering a promising start to a journey at the intersection of artificial intelligence and climate action.
