The second webinar of GISLA 2024 commenced with an opening address by Maleesha Dinujaya, Co-Chair of the event, extending a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and attendees. The session, centered around the critical theme of climate change, began with an introductory video of IEEE, shedding light on the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC. Following this, the audience was immersed in the world of GISLA2024 through an engaging introduction video, providing a comprehensive overview of the competition's objectives and significance. The highlight of the webinar was the thought-provoking guest speaker session led by Prof. K.W.G Rekha Nianthi, a distinguished expert in Geography from the University of Peradeniya. Professor Nianthi delved deep into the complexities of climate change, addressing its far-reaching implications on the future. Her insightful presentation not only emphasized the severity of climate-related challenges but also proposed practical solutions to mitigate these issues. In addition to this, the interactive Q&A session allowed attendees to engage with Prof. K.W.G Nianthi, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas. A heartfelt acknowledgment was extended to Professor Rekha Nianthi as a token of appreciation. The culmination of the webinar featured a closing address by Chalani Sankalpana, Assistant Secretary of GISLA 2024, expressing gratitude to all participants for their active involvement.
