Description

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of IEEE EMBS, Sri Lanka Chapter, was held as a virtual event on 29 December 2023 from 5 PM onwards. The AGM commenced with a welcome speech by the Immediate past chair, Dr. Vidura Jayasooriya. The secretary, Ms. Umaya Balagalla, presented the minutes of the previous AGM. Dr. Vidura Jayasooriya then provided an overview of the annual activities conducted in the year 2023. The treasurer, Dr. V. Logeeshan, presented the Annual Financial Report. Then, the nominations for the executive committee for the year 2024 were announced by the chapter nomination committee chair and the chair of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, Prof. Buddhika Jayasekara. Based on the constitution, the previous vice-chair, Dr. Rukshani Liyanarachchi, was appointed as the chair for 2024. The following positions were appointed based on the nominations. Vice-chair - Ms. Umaya Balagalla Treasurer - Mr. Isuru Dhananjaya Secretary - Mr. Achintha I. Kondarage Student and YP-Coordinataror: Mr. Kasun Gayashan Samarawickrama The rest of the positions were selected based on the proposals made during the AGM. Mr. Manura Jithmal De Silva was appointed as the Assistant Secretary, and Mr.Lakshan Madhushanka was appointed as the Editor. Subsequently, Dr. Rukshani Liyanaarachchi (Chair for the year 2024), Dr. Vidura Jaysooriya (Immediate past chair), Dr. Ruwan Ranaweera (a past chair), Mr. Dhammika Marasinghe (Chair-elect IEEE Sri Lanka section) delivered speeches. Mr. Achintha I. Kondarage, the newly appointed secretary, concluded the meeting with a vote of thanks.
