The Annual General Meeting of IEEE IES SBC was held on the 15th of September at ENTC1 hall, University of Moratuwa. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, symbolizing unity and prosperity. An introductory video on the IEEE IES Student Branch Chapter followed, providing attendees with an overview of the institution's objectives. Outgoing Chair, Mr. Yasod Ginige, welcomed participants, reflecting on the achievements of the past term. Keynote speaker Mr. Migara Amithodhana addressed the assembly, delivering valuable insights into industry trends. A Q&A session allowed participants to engage with Mr. Amithodhana, fostering interactive discussions. The Annual General Meeting agenda then shifted to formalities, with Ms. Dinithi Silva reading the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting. Subsequent to ensuring the accuracy of the proposed reports, the Treasurer's Report was presented by Mr. Vidura Munasinghe, providing a comprehensive financial overview. The Annual Report was then presented by Mr. Yasod Ginige, summarizing the accomplishments and challenges of the IEEE IES SBC Term 2022/23. After that, Dr. Peshala Jayasekara, the Staff Advisor of IEEE IES SBC, delivered a speech, emphasizing collaboration between students and faculty. Next, the democratic process of electing new executive committee members took place, paving the way for a smooth leadership transition. The Annual General Meeting continued with a speech by the newly appointed chairman Mr. Induwara Senadheera, outlining the vision for the upcoming term. Next, tokens of appreciation were distributed to the outgoing committee members of IEEE IES SBC to recognize their significant contributions to the society. A vote of thanks, by the newly appointed secretary Hiruni Wijewardena, expressed gratitude to all involved in organizing and participating in the Annual General Meeting. The event concluded on a positive note, marking the end of a successful and inspiring Annual General Meeting that celebrated achievements, established new goals, and strengthened the bonds within the IEEE IES SBC community.
