Ham Radio Emergency Communication The very first session of the Ham Radio Communication Workshop series was held on January 14, 2024, via Zoom at 6.30 p.m. A visionary guest speaker; Mr. Kusal Epa, paved the way for an exceptional opening session. Mr. Kusal Epa is an experienced amateur radio operator and former Honorary Secretary of the Radio Society of Sri Lanka. Following the 2004 tsunami strike, he was able to provide disaster relief communication services and shared his experience regarding his work at the GAREC conference in Finland. Kusal also has over 25 years of experience in cellular mobile, and mission-critical communication. He has worked in cellular mobile carrier networks in Sri Lanka and Australia. He holds a Master's degree in Digital Communication Systems, is a Chartered Engineer and is a member of professional institutions. The event focused on the basics of Ham radio communication and its vitality in an emergency. The speaker also provided further insights on the Radio Society of Sri Lanka.
