Ham Radio Emergency Communication Workshop

February 18, 2024 · 2:30 AM - 12:30 PM @ MP Amateur, Kurunegala, 4S6

Description

Ham Radio Communication Physical Workshop The final session of the workshop series was held at the 4STMP Amateur Radio Lab in Kurunegala on February 18th and was undeniably the highlight of the workshop series. The participants were able to dive into the fundamentals of antenna theory and gain hands-on experience by constructing antennas themselves. Building a Morse code step by step, studying ham radio mages and studying digital communication techniques were also crucial aspects of the workshop. The “fox hunt,” being the most exhilarating part of the day, compelled the participants to use radio direction-finding methods to track down a hidden radio transmitter within a given area. This interactive activity not only challenged their new skills but also encouraged teamwork and camaraderie as they collaborated to find the hidden transmitter. Leading the session was Mr. Tharanga Premathilaka, whose extensive knowledge, practical skills, and enthusiastic guidance made the experience both educational and memorable. His passion for ham radio communication was evident as he shared his expertise and stories, creating an engaging and enjoyable atmosphere that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
