Commencing from 02:00 PM onwards, the event unfolded as a testament to the spirit of innovation and collaboration that has marked the journey of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC over the past six years. In commemoration of the Student Branch’s 6th anniversary, IEEE Spark VI provided a platform to honor the commitment of IEEE volunteers at SLTC and to highlight the diverse opportunities within the world's largest technical professional organization. The event sought to educate SLTC undergraduates about the value of volunteering and the rewarding experiences that come with IEEE involvement. The event kicked off with a warm welcome extended by moderators Anjalee Nisansala and Kaweesha Edirisinghe to the esteemed guests and enthusiastic participants. The project's co-chairs, Dhananjaya Yatigammana and Subhaga Hansamana, formally welcomed the gathering and commenced the evening. Dhananjaya delivered the welcome speech, setting the tone for an engaging day ahead. Mrs. Warunika Hippola, the Branch Academic Advisor of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, captivated the audience by discussing the significance of volunteering with IEEE in her session titled "What is IEEE and the Importance of IEEE." She emphasized the potential for personal and professional growth through IEEE membership and provided an in-depth overview of its benefits. She also discussed the transition from Student to Young Professional (YP) and highlighted the many advantages available to the IEEE community. Her session also highlighted the various possibilities and resources available to the research community. This session illustrated how IEEE supports its members at different career stages and offers opportunities to people from diverse engineering backgrounds. Dr. Lasith Yasakethu, the Senior Treasurer of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, delivered an illuminating discourse on the "Opportunities of Joining with IEEE," shedding light on the manifold benefits awaiting students within the IEEE community. He further discussed how IEEE facilitates networking, enabling members to meet professionals from both industry and academia.
