The first complete officer meeting of the executive committee of the IEEE Uva Wellassa University Student Branch was held on 14th May 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to facilitate a meet and greet with all executive committee members and to discuss prevailing matters within the student branch collectively. The meeting witnessed the full participation of all 15 executive committee members. During the meeting, members introduced themselves, providing a brief overview of their roles and responsibilities. Detailed planning for the upcoming IEEE Open Day 2024 was conducted, with strategies discussed to attract new members from the incoming batch of undergraduates. Additionally, the scheduling and planning of volunteer training sessions were discussed, focusing on the content and structure of the program to equip new members with necessary skills and knowledge. The meeting also addressed issues related to renewing the branch’s membership within the university, outlining steps and deadlines to ensure timely renewal. Constitutional challenges faced by the branch were highlighted, and a subcommittee was formed to draft necessary amendments. The meeting was highly productive, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration among the executive committee members. With clear plans and actionable steps, the IEEE Uva Wellassa University Student Branch is well-prepared to enhance its membership and volunteer engagement in the upcoming term.

Presentation of the planned flow of activities by the Vice Chair of the Student Branch. 5:10 p.m. - Planning the volunteer training session for student branch members. 5:15 p.m. - Explanation of the structure of the “Volunteer of the Month” flyer series initiated by the Sri Lanka Section Student Activities Committee (SLSAC). 5:20 p.m. - Discussion of issues with the current student branch website. 5:25 p.m. - Discussion of prevailing issues with registering the new Computer Society chapter. 5:30 p.m. - Discussion about club registration within the university and related issues. 5:35 p.m. - Planning the printing of the student branch official t-shirt. 5:40 p.m. - Discussion on releasing the IMPETUS magazine in an online manner. 5:45 p.m. - Discussion on the new student branch logo. 5:50 p.m. - Comprehensive introduction to upcoming student branch events and finalizing the events to be conducted within the year. 6:00 p.m. - Meeting ends.
