"She Too 3.0" Mental Health Awareness Session

The IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group of Wayamba University organized the "She Too 3.0" mental health awareness session to commemorate International Women's Day 2024. This initiative aimed to convey mental health issues affecting women, with a primary focus on stress and depression, while also empowering participants with the knowledge and resources needed to effectively address these challenges. Hosted via Zoom, allowing university students’ participation and engagement. Mrs. Irushini Kalugamage Weerasinghe, a former counselor and program lecturer at Kiribathgoda Base Hospital and the Psychological Life Centre, graced the event as the keynote speaker. Leveraging her experience and expertise as a professional psychological counselor, Mrs. Weerasinghe has left a lasting impact on countless individuals by offering invaluable support and guidance in navigating mental health issues. The "She Too 3.0" session commenced with an introductory segment by the organizers, highlighting the significance of mental health awareness, particularly within the context of women's well-being. Mrs. Irushini Kalugamage Weerasinghe then delivered a captivating keynote speech, addressing various aspects of mental health, including familiar challenges faced by women and the importance of seeking professional help when needed. Furthermore, the session incorporated an interactive Q&A segment, enabling participants to share their personal experiences, ask questions, and receive expert advice from Mrs. Weerasinghe. Attendees were equipped with valuable knowledge of self-care practices, stress and depression management techniques, and the importance of fostering supportive communities to promote mental well-being. In conclusion, "She Too 3.0" served as a pivotal platform and left an indelible mark for fostering meaningful dialogue, and empowerment among participants and reinforcing the importance of prioritizing mental health and supporting women's holistic well-being.
