Bytebash focuses on trending technological topics both globally and among students. While others organize webinars and sessions, we introduced Bytebash as a meetup rather than a webinar or seminar to improve student engagement. Recent meetups and student participation have showcased the success of this approach. In April, one of the trending topics among students was Google Summer of Code, with the deadline approaching. Many students were interested in open source but didn't know where to start. So, we gathered our CS community for a meeting and invited a former Summer of Code contributor. During the meetup, we discussed the GSoC opportunity and how to write a good proposal with our student members. We had 50+ participants who were willing to apply for GSoC.
