The Grand Finale of CodeSprint 8, held on the 22nd of June at the Galadari Hotel in Colombo, was a grand celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship. Originally conceived as an inter-university idea incubator, CodeSprint has evolved over the years into a formidable startup battle. This year's event which served as the 8th iteration, witnessed participation from over 525 teams, representing 2500 undergraduates from 20 private and state universities across Sri Lanka. Over six months, participants and the organizing committee worked tirelessly and effortlessly to bring CodeSprint 8 into a reality. The theme of CodeSprint 8, "Elevating the Tech Realm," aimed to bridge the gap between ideation and implementation of innovative startup ideas. Participants were not only able to present their startup ideas but also received support in implementing their concepts, making the experience both practical and beneficial. CodeSprint 8 comprised of three phases: IDEATE, PROTOTYPE, and STARTUP. The event was reinforced by the invaluable support of 27 company partners, which served as the backbone of CodeSprint 8. Each phase was supported by workshops held in both virtual and physical formats. Teams presenting their technical pitches were mentored by a panel of mentors, helping them refine and develop their projects. The top 10 finalists emerged from this rigorous process to compete in the Grand Finale. The distinguished panel of judges, including Mr. Dulith Herath, Founder & Chairman of Kapruka.com; Mr. Subodha Perera, Founder and CEO of Econsulate; Mr. Sanjeewa Alwis, CEO of BCS Technology International Pty Ltd; Mr. Fayaz Hudah, Founder of Spiralation; and Mr. Selvaratnam Uthaiyashankar, SVP & GM of Integration BU at WSO2, played a pivotal role in evaluating the finalists and selecting the winners. CodeSprint 8 was a testament to the creativity, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit of Sri Lanka's young innovators, setting a new benchmark for future events.
