On 30th May 2024, the IEEE Power and Energy Society, in collaboration with the Engineering Student Society of KDU, organized an insightful guest lecture conducted by experts from Rotax (Pvt) Limited Sri Lanka. This event took place at the KDU premises of FOE 4-1 lecture hall and brought together students, faculty, and industry professionals for a comprehensive discussion on various crucial topics within the field of electrical and electronic engineering. The lecture featured an esteemed panel of speakers from Rotax, including Mr. Buddhika Jayaweera, Business Development Manager, who provided insights into switchgear and its applications. Mr. Sadeesh Edirisinghe, Sales Manager and Telecommunications Engineer, discussed earthing wiring and its significance. Mr. Banuja Piumal, Electronic Engineer, covered the design and application of energy management systems. Additionally, Mr. Harshana Wijesinghe, an Engineer, delved into predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, while Mr. Manod Illangasinghe, Assistant Manager of Automation & System Integration, explained the latest in automation technologies. Mr. Sangeeth Sudesh Fernando and Mr. Dulith Deemantha, both Electrical Engineers, focused on switchgear and control gear applications and lighting applications, respectively. Mr. Dimuthu Nuwan Bandara Abeysinghe, also an Electrical Engineer, contributed to the discussion with practical examples from the industry. This collaborative event provided an excellent platform for students to gain valuable knowledge and interact with industry leaders, enhancing their understanding and skills in the ever-evolving field of power and energy.
