Redesign of IEEE Uva Wellassa University Student Branch Logo

June 18, 2024 · 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM @ Online event

Description

The current logo of the IEEE Uva Wellassa University Student Branch, in use since its inception in 2015, does not specifically reflect the culture and community associated with the university. This has led to numerous requests for a more meaningful logo that would represent the branch's longevity and identity. The PV Subcommittee designed several potential logos and organized a voting process involving current student branch members and past executive committee members. However, disagreements arose regarding the highest-voted logos, prompting a meeting to gather suggestions for improvements from members with strong design skills. During the meeting, a review of all student branch logos within Sri Lanka was conducted to ensure consistency across the section. Additionally, famous landmarks and symbols associated with the Badulla District, where the university is located, were explored. Members skilled in computer graphics proposed a few changes to the meeting attendees, and discussions about these suggestions followed. The meeting concluded with an agreement to incorporate the proposed changes into the highest-voted logos. A second voting round will be conducted to select the final logo for the student branch.
