On July 9th, 2024, the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group at the University of Peradeniya successfully organized an exciting and interactive event for the newly enrolled E22 undergraduates to celebrate IEEE WIE Day. Over 150 participants joined the event, which aimed to inspire and engage the new batch through various activities, including a valuable talk from Dr. Anuththara Rupasinghe, a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University. The event commenced at 3 PM with an opening address by Ms. Duleesha Samarakoon, Chair of the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group. Participants were introduced to Women in Engineering and the women in navigate program through a presentation by two committee members. The interactive session featured a treasure hunt, where students, divided into eight groups, participated in challenges designed to enhance problem-solving skills, teamwork, math skills, and creativity. The winning team received a valuable gift pack. Ms. Anuththara Rupasinghe's inspiring talk captivated the audience, providing insights on achieving success in both academia and real life.
