The Annual General Meeting 2024 of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC was a significant and memorable event conducted on July 12, 2024, at SLTC, Padukka premises. The event commenced with the arrival of our distinguished guests and the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by notable figures such as Prof. Veranja Karunaratne - Vice Chancellor of SLTC, Ms. Lihini Rajapaksha - Chairperson of the IEEE SLSAC, Dr. Lasith Yasakethu, Mrs. Warunika Hippola, Mrs. Swapna Premasiri, Adeepa Ekanayaka, Shakil Arifeen, and others. Tharushi Liyanage, Chairperson of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Student Branch Chapter of SLTC, delivered an inspiring welcome speech and extended a warm reception to the SLTC IEEE community and all our esteemed guests. Then, a video consisting of the past year's activities, featuring the highlights of numerous projects by the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, its affiliated technical society chapters, and the affinity group, played to catch the audience's attention. It highlighted the hard work, teamwork, and true spirit of the IEEE volunteer community of SLTC. Next, a comprehensive yearly recap detailing the events of the previous year, allowing the attendees to reflect on the special moments and achievements of the past year, emphasizing the importance of events in fostering the sense of the IEEE community, was provided by Sabrina Samath, Secretary of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC. In a stirring address, Prof. Veranja Karunaratne, the Vice Chancellor of SLTC, lauded the IEEE Student Branch for their exceptional dedication. He celebrated our achievements and the transformative power of volunteering, underscoring how active participation in clubs and societies sharpens interpersonal skills and enriches academic pursuits. Following his insightful speech, Shakil Arifeen, chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC conferred a token of appreciation to acknowledge and honor his valuable presence and unwavering support. The Chief Guest, Ms. Lihini Rajapaksha, Chairperson of the Student Activities Committee of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section, captivated the audience with her inspiring speech. Her presence was a beacon of motivation, as she highlighted the power and benefits of volunteering with IEEE. Also, her words served as a compelling reminder of the invaluable connections and experiences gained from active participation in IEEE. Following her insightful speech, Dhananjaya Yatigammana, elected Chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC presented her with a token of appreciation to acknowledge and honor her invaluable presence and continuing support. Then, the event was followed by a refreshment break, adding a delightful touch of entertainment. Then, the new Student Advisory Committee was formally appointed by Mrs. Warunika Hippola, Academic Advisor of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, marking a transition in leadership and setting the stage for the future. The appointment of the new Executive Committee Members and Subcommittee Heads started with the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Student Branch Chapter of SLTC by their Chairperson, Kasun Herath. Then, Chairperson of the IEEE Computer Society (CS) Student Branch Chapter of SLTC, Sasindu Laskshan, Sanduni Jayasooriya, Vice Chairperson of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group of SLTC, and Tharushi Liyange, Chairperson of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Student Branch Chapter of SLTC, appointed their new Executive Committee Members and Sub-committee Heads. Lastly, Shakil Arifeen, Chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, addressed the gathering, reflecting on his tenure and expressing gratitude for the support and cooperation of his team. Then, he appointed the new Executive Committee Members and Sub-committee Heads of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC. Next, the newly appointed Chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, Dhananjaya Yatigammana, addressed the audience, expressing his gratitude for the past executive committee's unwavering support and dedication and sharing his vision for the future of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC. Mr. Adeepa Ekanayaka, President of the SLTC Student Interactive Society, then addressed the gathering, expressing his appreciation and support for the IEEE community at SLTC. As another special moment, we took the opportunity to appreciate two remarkable individuals who have been a cornerstone of support and guidance throughout the past year. Shakil Arifeen, newly appointed Head of the Student Advisory Committee of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, presented a token of appreciation to Dr. Lasith Yasakethu, Branch Senior Academic Treasurer of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC. Then, Dhananjaya Yatigammana, newly appointed Chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, presented a token of appreciation to Mrs. Warunika Hippola, Branch Academic Advisor of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC. These tokens of appreciation were awarded to them to esteem their exceptional support, guidance, and unwavering dedication to the branch's activities and success. Dr. Lasith Yasakethu took the stage to hand over the certificates of appreciation to the Round Table members for 2023/24 in recognition of their exceptional hard work and unwavering dedication throughout the year. Then, Mrs. Warunika Hippola handed over the appointment letters of the Round Table for the year 2024/25. The occasion was successfully concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Kasundi Neelagolla, the newly appointed Secretary of the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, expressing her special thanks to all our distinguished guests, past Executive Committee members, all participants, and organizers for their contribution to the event a success. In conclusion, the Annual General Meeting 2024 was a resounding success, reflecting the past year's achievements and setting the stage for continued growth and excellence in the IEEE community of SLTC.
