Description
The IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group at Sri Lanka Technological Campus celebrated a milestone with VioletGlow'24, marking its 5th anniversary. This event represented half a decade of dedicated efforts toward promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the engineering community at SLTC. VioletGlow'24 was not just an anniversary celebration; it was a testament to our members' achievements, an inspiration for future leaders, and a showcase of the supportive network we've built for women engineers at our institution. VioletGlow'24 brought together like-minded individuals passionate about advancing the role of women in engineering. The event aimed to honor the significant contributions of our IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group members, showcase their accomplishments and inspire the next generation of women engineers to pursue their goals with confidence and determination. We were honored to welcome Mrs. Warunika Hippola, the Regional Student Representative of IEEE Region 10, as our special guest. As Mrs. Hippola is an inspirational character for many young engineers, her presence at Violet Glow 24 undoubtedly motivated and encouraged our attendees. The event commenced with a warm welcome to all chapter members and invitees. We celebrated the occasion by cutting a cake to mark the 5th anniversary of IEEE WIE SB AG at SLTC. Refreshments were provided to all participants, and photographs were taken to capture these memorable moments. This was followed by a dedicated networking session, a key highlight of VioletGlow'24. Networking is vital for career growth, and we were committed to facilitating these connections among our participants. VioletGlow'24 was not only about celebrating past achievements but also focused on the future. Experienced members shared their journeys, elaborating on the challenges encountered and how they overcame them. These stories served as a source of inspiration for new members and encouraged them to contribute actively to our initiatives. In addition to professional development and networking, VioletGlow'24 also emphasized the importance of community and camaraderie. The event also featured entertainment and social activities, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere where attendees could unwind and forge personal connections. As we celebrated our 5th anniversary with VioletGlow'24, we reflected with pride on our accomplishments and looked forward with excitement to the future. Our journey has been unforgettable due to the unwavering commitment of our members to promote diversity and inclusion in engineering. We are grateful to everyone who supported us throughout our journey and are excited to continue our mission of empowering women engineers at SLTC and beyond.
