Ziyectro Knowledge Sharing Session 02
June 22, 2024 · 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM @ Online event
Description
Ziyectro was an online workshop series presented by the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter of SLTC. Designed as a premier platform for delving into Embedded Systems, this program offered participants an enriching journey across four distinct workshops. The series was meticulously planned to provide a comprehensive understanding of embedded systems, with each workshop building on the knowledge and skills acquired in the previous sessions. Our moderators warmly welcomed all the participants, setting an inspiring tone for the evening. Following this, Ms. Chathuni Wijegunawardana took over the platform to provide an overview of what the lesson would cover on Day 02. This segment was designed to give participants a clear understanding of the topics that would be discussed, ensuring they were prepared for the detailed content. The first topic covered was Analog Input with ADC, where participants were introduced to Analog-to-Digital Conversion (ADC) in PIC microcontrollers. This section included reading analog sensors and processing analog signals, providing a foundational understanding of how ADC works and its applications in embedded systems. Understanding ADC was crucial for participants as it enabled them to convert real-world analog signals into digital data that could be processed by the microcontroller. Following the ADC segment, the workshop moved to Analog Output with DAC. This part of the session covered the basics of Digital-to-Analog Conversion (DAC) and its applications. Participants learned to convert digital data into analog signals, an essential skill for controlling analog devices and systems. The knowledge of DAC complemented the ADC segment, providing a comprehensive understanding of how to handle both types of signal conversion. The next topic was LCD Display Interfacing. Participants were taught how to connect and program an LCD for data output. This segment included practical instructions on wiring the LCD to the microcontroller and writing code to display information. This capability to integrate LCDs is a valuable skill in embedded systems, as it enables the visual output of data, facilitating easier monitoring and debugging of projects. To reinforce the concepts learned throughout the session, participants engaged in a mini-project that combined digital I/O, ADC, and LCD interfacing. This hands-on project allowed them to apply their newly acquired knowledge in a practical setting, solidifying their understanding of the topics covered. The mini-project was processed as an excellent way to integrate various concepts, demonstrating how different components and functions can work together in an embedded system. The workshop continued with the main session, where participants delved deeper into the day's topics. During this time, Ms. Chathuni Wijegunawardana provided detailed explanations and guided participants through various exercises and examples. The extended session allowed an in-depth explanation of the content, ensuring all participants had ample time to grasp the concepts and ask questions as needed. They concluded the evening with a Q&A session. This interactive segment provided an opportunity for participants to seek clarifications, ask specific questions, and engage directly with the resource person. The Q&A session was designed to address individual concerns and provide tailored guidance, ensuring that all participants were left with a clear understanding of the material covered. This interactive segment was crucial for reinforcing learning and ensuring every participant fully understood the material. The structured agenda and interactive format of the workshop ensured that participants had a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. By integrating theoretical instruction with practical applications, Ziyectro effectively equipped participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in embedded systems.
