During the SLIIT Open Day, the IEEE Student Branch leveraged the opportunity to engage with first-year students through a dedicated awareness session focused on introducing them to IEEE. This session was a key component of the branch's ongoing efforts to increase membership and ensure that new students were aware of the benefits and opportunities available through IEEE. In the session, representatives from the Student Branch provided an overview of what IEEE stands for, its global impact, and the various resources, events, and networks it offers to members. The session was designed to be informative and engaging, with a focus on how IEEE could enhance the academic and professional journeys of the students. To capitalize on the interest generated during the session, the registration form for joining the IEEE Student Branch was opened on the same day. This immediate call to action allowed interested students to sign up on the spot, making the registration process seamless and convenient. By integrating the awareness session with the registration opportunity, the Student Branch successfully enrolled a significant number of first-year students, thereby expanding its membership base and ensuring that the newest members of the SLIIT community were immediately connected to the benefits of IEEE.
