August 17, 2024 · 5:30 AM - 7:30 AM @ Academic Building, Kelaniya, Faculty of Computing and Technology

Description

The final round of the school-level competition for CyberZee'24 was held on August 17th, starting promptly at 11 am at the Faculty of Computing and Technology. This physical event was the culmination of the school-level quiz competition, showcasing the top 12 teams that had emerged victorious from the initial online round. The final event began with a round that mirrored the format of the university semi-finals, focusing on answering a series of challenging questions. This format ensured that participants were tested on a range of topics, similar to the previous rounds but with added complexity to determine the best teams. The aim was to evaluate the depth of knowledge and quick-thinking skills of the teams in a live setting. Following the question round, the competition transitioned to the speech segment. Each team member was required to select one of ten pre-assigned topics and deliver a 5-minute speech. The topics were chosen through a raffle-style process, which introduced an element of unpredictability and required participants to adapt their presentation skills to a range of subjects. This round not only assessed the participants’ public speaking abilities but also their capacity to think critically and present coherent arguments on diverse topics. The event was meticulously judged by Miss Meesha Mervyn, Temporary Demonstrator at the Department of Computer Systems Engineering, Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya, and Miss Hirushi Nawaajana, Temporary Demonstrator at the Department of Computer Systems Engineering, Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya, who provided expert evaluation throughout the competition. Their assessment covered both the accuracy of the answers, and the quality of the speeches delivered by the participants. This comprehensive evaluation ensured that the winners were determined based on a balanced consideration of all aspects of performance. Upon the completion of all rounds, the top three teams were recognized and awarded for their outstanding achievements. The teams that secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places were celebrated for their exemplary performance throughout the competition. The prestigious title of CyberZee'24 Champion in the Inter-School category was awarded to the team with the highest overall score, acknowledging their superior performance across all rounds.
