Undergraduate Student Design Contest

Description

Scope: To recognize three separate individual students or student team design projects. The IAS Sri Lanka Undergraduate Design contest specifically recognizes outstanding projects done by undergraduate students enrolled in an academic engineering program, or equivalent. Undergraduate students are encouraged to submit technical reports detailing their projects. Any project encompassing the scope of the Industry Applications Society will be accepted (most academic design and research projects qualify!). For more information regarding the IEEE Industry Applications Society SL Chapter Eligibility: The contest is open to all undergraduate student members. The project must fall within the IAS scope. Most engineering senior-level undergraduate design projects and graduate student projects (before MSc degree) qualify. Categories: Submissions can be made in either the individual or team category. Teams are limited to 3 members in the team category. Submissions from teams with more than 3 members will not be accepted. Report Format: The report should be a minimum of 10 pages and include a detailed design methodology and all relevant diagrams. Evaluation Criteria: The projects submitted will be evaluated based on the following criteria: i) Extent to which solution of the design problem demonstrates the practical application of engineering fundamentals and engineering judgement. ii) Quality of research and significance of contributions demonstrated by the project iii) Quality of the written report iv) Significance of the work to the scope of the Industry Applications Society v) The extent to which an industrial entity, if any, provides appropriate guidance and access to an applications environment. The winning team members will be awarded certificates from IEEE IAS-Sri Lanka recognizing their work. The winning teams will also be selected to take part in the Myron Zucker International Undergraduate Project Competition and the winners of the said competition will be rewarded as follows: The winners of the Myron Zucker International Competition will be awarded as follows: 1) 1st prize - $800 2) 2nd prize - $600 3) 3rd prize - $400 All cash honoraria will be divided equally among team members.
