SOLIDWORKS Workshop - Day 01
April 6, 2024 · 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM @ Online event
Description
The IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) at the University of Moratuwa organized this 2 days of SOLIDWORKS workshop to introduce students to the fundamentals of 3D design and modeling. SOLIDWORKS was specifically chosen for this session because it is a leading software used in the engineering industry for designing mechanical systems and components. Its user-friendly interface, extensive range of features, and widespread industry adoption make it an ideal tool for students to gain practical skills that are relevant for both academic and professional engineering projects. The workshop focused on familiarizing students with the basic concepts of the software, teaching them how to navigate the interface, and guiding them through the process of creating various shapes and designs. At the end of the 1st day of this workshop students were able to familiarize with the software and learnt basic functionalities which are essential. This workshop also aligned with PES's goal to enhance students' practical knowledge in engineering design, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications.
