FestX 5.0 was an exciting and vibrant event organized to celebrate the grand inauguration of the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of University of Moratuwa, with the primary goal of welcoming the new batch of students into the group. The event featured two key competitions: ModelX and WebX , both aimed at fostering creativity and technical skills among participants. ModelX challenged students to design and showcase impressive 3D models using Blender, while WebX pushed participants to create and present dynamic portfolio websites. These competitions allowed the new students to engage with engineering concepts and collaborate, building a sense of community. The event culminated in an official inauguration ceremony, where Chairwoman of the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group, Ms.Upeksha Erandi, extended a warm welcome to the new batch. Ms.Hiruni Hettiarachchi from the IEEE WIE Sri Lanka Section gave an introduction to the WIE group, and the winners of the competitions were announced. Ms. Anjalie Cooray, Associate Tech Lead at Insighture, and Ms. Ridmi Thilakarathna, Software Engineer at Insighture, participated as guest speakers and shared insightful thoughts with the WIE group during the session. Insighture, the platinum partner of FestX 5.0, played a significant role, with Mr.Shehan Samarasinghe, a Tech Lead at Insighture, conducting a workshop for the WebX competition. The ModelX competition was supported by a session led by Mr.Jiyath Amasara and Mr.Sampath Samaraweera, offering guidance to participants. This event marked a memorable start for the new batch, bringing them into the thriving WIE community.
