DECODE XTREME webinar series was a vital initiative of the IEEE Student Branch at SLTC. This year, the IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, in collaboration with the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of SLTC, was excited to host DECODE XTREME 2024, a series of sessions designed to motivate and prepare undergraduates for IEEEXtreme 18.0, the global 24-hour programming competition. In line with the IEEE’s mission, DECODE XTREME was crafted to support the advancement of undergraduates in coding and technical problem-solving skills. The event series aims to inspire participants to engage with programming on a global scale, foster a sense of collaboration, and empower them to make significant contributions to the tech industry through IEEEXtreme. The first session of DECODE EXTREME, titled "Unveiling IEEE and the Global Impact of IEEEXtreme," kicked off on September 28, 2024, at 8:00 PM via Zoom. This engaging webinar dove deep into the heart of IEEE and the global significance of the IEEEXtreme competition. Participants were given an exclusive look at how this prestigious coding challenge empowers students worldwide, fostering innovation, collaboration, and technical mastery on a global stage. With expert insights and inspiring stories, the session captured why IEEEXtreme is more than just a competition - a journey of growth and impact in the tech world. The primary objectives of DECODE XTREME were: Inspire and motivate undergraduates to participate in IEEEXtreme 18.0. Provide valuable insights into the competition and share strategies for success. Promote the IEEE Student Branch and IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of SLTC within the SLTC student community. The event was hosted by our esteemed guest speaker, Mr. Eranga Kodithuwakku, Section Lead Ambassador of IEEEXtreme 18.0 of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section. As an experienced professional with extensive expertise in leadership and community building, Mr. Kodithuwakku is dedicated to advancing the mission of IEEE and enhancing the global impact of IEEEXtreme. His keynote session focused on the transformative potential of IEEEXtreme, highlighting its ability to foster collaboration within the international tech community. Mr. Kodithuwakku shared his valuable insights into the competition by offering practical advice for aspiring participants. His expertise in leadership significantly contributed to the event's success, empowering undergraduates to take on this global coding challenge with confidence and determination. The session also featured an interactive Q&A segment, where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions about the competition, career opportunities in coding, and strategies for excelling in a high-pressure, team-based environment. This vibrant discussion allowed participants to gain deeper insights from the speaker and explore their aspirations in the field of technology. By bringing together experienced professionals and enthusiastic students, DECODE EXTREME 2024 paved the way for greater participation and success in IEEEXtreme 18.0. The event fostered a culture of collaboration and excellence within the SLTC student body, inspiring participants to embrace the challenges and opportunities of IEEEXtreme 18.0.
