The IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka organized the "Breaking Silence" awareness session to address gender-based violence. Ms. Narthana Wevita, an attorney and activist, led discussions on legal frameworks, prevention strategies, and the societal impact of violence against women. The event promoted dialogue on intervention and advocacy, emphasizing the importance of collective action. It concluded with gratitude expressed to all participants and a call for ongoing efforts to combat gender-based violence. The session delved into the definition and causes of violence, emphasizing the urgency of taking concrete steps to prevent it.
