On the 24th of August, 2024 , IEEE Y2NPro hosted the second webinar in their Battery Technology and Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles Workshop Series. The virtual session, held via Zoom at 6 p.m., featured Mr. Kasun Jayalath, a Senior Electronics Engineer from Vega Innovations. The webinar, titled “ Charging Infrastructure Innovations I ,” highlighted the latest advancements in EV charging networks, focusing on embedded Linux systems. Mr. Jayalath delved into key topics such as middleware development, network controller integration, and over-the-air (OTA) updates, providing participants with in-depth knowledge of the technological innovations driving the EV charging infrastructure. His extensive experience in the field, spanning roles at Sri Lanka Telecom and MAS Holdings, allowed for a comprehensive discussion on real-world applications and challenges in the EV ecosystem. The event attracted a diverse audience of 47 participants, including IEEE members and guest participants, who actively engaged with Mr. Jayalath through a Q&A session. The session provided valuable insights into the role of electronics engineering in enhancing the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, making it a highly informative and technically enriching experience. IEEE Y2NPro continues to provide a platform for professionals and enthusiasts to gain niche knowledge from industry experts, helping them stay at the forefront of technological advancements in fields like battery technology and EV infrastructure.
