CareerXpo 1.0 is a flagship event organized by the IEEE Student Branch at the University of Ruhuna in collaboration with the Electrical and Information Engineering Society and the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Students’ Society. The event is tailored to assist final-year and third-year undergraduates from the Departments of Electrical and Information Engineering and final-year undergraduates from the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in advancing their professional careers. The primary objective is to bridge the gap between industry and academia, fostering opportunities for students to network, gain insights into their chosen fields, and prepare for the competitive job market. Event Objectives and Goals Facilitate networking opportunities for students to interact with experienced professionals from leading companies. Offer workshops, panels, and talks that provide career guidance, skill development, and industry trends. Encourage employers to present internship and recruitment opportunities, giving students a direct avenue to pursue post-graduation employment. Equip students with the knowledge of crucial technical and soft skills, enhancing their employability and workplace readiness. Event The CareerXpo 1.0 commenced with an inspiring opening ceremony, graced by the presence of the chief guest, Dr. Harsha Subasinghe, CEO of CodeGen International (Pvt) Ltd. The event kicked off with a warm welcome speech delivered by Dr. Rajitha Udawalpola, head of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna. This was followed by an address from Dr. Nanditha Hettiarachchi, representing the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ruhuna, who highlighted the significance of the event. Dr. Subasinghe then took the stage, sharing valuable insights with the students and guests. The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering, including Dr. Chathura Senewiratne, Dr. Prabhath Weerasinghe, Dr. Keerthi Gunawickrama, Dr. Krishan Wickramasinghe, Dr. P.R.D.Weerasooriya, Dr. Thilina Weerasinghe , Dr. Geeth Priyankara , Ms. M.S.D.
