The IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) and the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) Student Branch Chapters of the University of Moratuwa collaboratively organized an engaging event focused on the applications of power electronics in microgrids. The event comprised an insightful session delivered by industry and academic experts, highlighting the role of power electronics in the operation, control, and optimization of microgrids. Following the technical session, participants were given the opportunity to visit the university's microgrid facility. The field visit provided a practical understanding of the concepts discussed, as students explored the design, implementation, and functionality of a working microgrid system. The event fostered collaboration between the two societies, creating a valuable platform for students to enhance their knowledge and connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications.
