The WIE Affinity Group of the IEEE Student Branch of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka hosted an insightful Awareness Session on October 5th, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The session aimed to enlighten students about the significance of joining the Women in Engineering (WIE) and how it can positively impact their personal and professional growth. The session featured two esteemed speakers: Ms. Gresha Samarakkody , Chair of IEEE WIE Sri Lanka Section and Senior Lecturer at CINEC Campus Malabe, shared the importance of WIE and its role in empowering women engineers globally. Ms. Thilini Irugalbandara , PhD Scholar at Queensland University of Technology and Senior Lecturer at Rajarata University, elaborated on how Rajarata University students could leverage WIE to enhance their skills and opportunities. The session provided valuable insights into the numerous benefits of being part of WIE, motivating students to take advantage of the opportunities it offers.
